Maastricht has the largest art fair in the world, the TEFAF, held in March. André Rieu has his concerts on the Vrijthof square in July. Besides all the famous events, Maastricht offers a lot of cultural events throughout the entire year.
Visitors of events will find their way to Maastricht. The city is known for hosting The European Fine Art Fair (TEFAF), the Heiligdomsvaart (procession), Jazz Maastricht, Jumping Indoor Maastricht (JIM), running competition Maastrichts Mooiste, the Preuvenemint, the concerts by André Rieu, Winterland (also known as Magical Maastricht), the Amstel Gold Race and the INKOM (introduction event for new students).
Hasselt is also an event city with many business events and concerts being held in the Grenslandhallen. The Virga Jessefeesten, music festivals Pukkelpop and Rimpelrock, the Lotto Zesdaagse, the Schlagerfestival, the maypole plantation and several performances in the theatres are sure to attract many visitors. Hasselt was also the hosting city of the Junior Euro Vision Song Contest in 2005.
Liège is bursting with life every January with the annual Festival of Liège with lots of theatre, dance and music. Liège is also the stage for the Jazz Festival.
Aachen contains beautiful theatres where many great productions have played. Aachen also has the oldest discothèque in Germany, the Scotch-Club. Aachen is by far the best city for cinemas, cultural and sports events.
Also the large Christmas market, the exuberant carnival parades, the large fair Öcher Bend and the annual CHIO – Concours Hippique are visited by many people.
